The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) now accepts
application for 2013 Undergraduate Science Scholarship.
About 4,000 scholarship slots are to be awarded nationwide.
Qualified to apply are natural-born Filipino citizens who belong to the upper five percent (5%) of the regular high school graduating class or a member of the graduating class of any DOST-identified or DepEd-recognized science high school, a resident of the municipality/district for the last four years, have not yet earned units in any post-secondary/undergraduate course, have not previously taken any DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) scholarship examination, of good-moral character, of good health and must have no pending application for resident or immigrant status in any foreign country.
Interested applicants can apply for the scholarship grant in either of the two categories: Program A, also known as Republic Act 7687 which is designed for financially incapable, but intelligent students whose family’s combined gross annual income does not amount to more than P156, 600. Students with a higher combined family income, on the other hand, can apply under Program B (Merit Scholarship).
Applicants are required to submit an accomplished application form, two recent, identical, 1x1 photos which should be taken within the application period, with one photo attached to the application form and the other to the test permit. Also required is one (1) photocopy of the applicant’s birth certificate. Applicants, however, are required to bring the original copy for authentication purposes.
Scholarship application forms can be obtained at the DOST Regional Offices and Provincial Technology Centers nearest to the applicants. Application forms can also be downloaded online at www.sei.dost.gov.ph and www.science-scholarships.ph.
Accomplished forms can be filed at DOST Regional Offices or its Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) nearest the applicant’s school or home address. Deadline for filing of application forms is on October 5, 2012 (Friday).
