DOST has funds for R & D projects but scientist and researchers would have to make good proposals that are in line with DOST priorities for possible funding.
DOST grants-in-aid jumped to P1.422 billion this year from P1.267 billion last year and P740 million in 2007. The department has funded research projects form P100,000 to as hhigh as P220 million, depending on the projects overall potential, especially on commercialization.
DOST priority areas are in biotechnology, health and pharmaceuticals, information and communications technology (ICT), food, environment and renewable energy.
